No. As recorded on 1 July 2026, the cheapest plan on the Belgian market (Ecopower, ~€1,252/year) is a 100% green plan. The green premium is a myth: it depends on the supplier, not on the electron.

What is the difference between Belgian green production and guarantees of origin?

Ecopower and Cociter physically produce the electricity they sell, in Belgium. Large suppliers (TotalEnergies, Mega, Eneco) cover your consumption with guarantees of origin bought on the European market. Both are legal and auditable, but the effect on local production is not the same.

Do I have to buy shares to join a cooperative?

Yes, with both Ecopower and Cociter: you become a member. The share is refundable when you leave, but it is an entry ticket to plan for — and both suppliers are limited to a single region.

Are green plans available in Brussels?
